Kristin has a heart of gold volunteering diligently with StandUp For Kids, determined to make a difference in the lives of homeless youth. She consistently brings positive energy, smiles and hope to 100 kids each week at The Village Outreach Center in Silicon Valley. Kristin understands the difficult issues they face and decided to become a mentor to a youth struggling with addiction.

Due to her kindness, support and dedication, Kristin was able to build trust with this young man and change his life. Now, he is accepting help in beating his addiction, working 20-25 hours per week and setting goals to finish high school, get a car and apply for housing programs. Like all volunteers, Kristin continues to join StandUp For Kids knowing that she is impacting the lives of others in her community.

At just 19 years old, Al has endured years of neglect, mental abuse and emotional struggle. Born in Guana and abandoned by his parents at age 5, he moved to the US with his aunt and uncle when he was just 12 years old, only to encounter more obstacles and mental abuse.

In order to cope with his pain and depression, Al began using marijuana. He became homeless due to domestic violence issues in his uncle’s home and was living in a shed provided by a friend’s mother. He was referred to StandUp For Kids, and with guidance and support from his mentor, Al has since moved into a sober living home where he has kept up with meetings, chores and work schedule.

We are proud of Al’s strength and determination to stay sober and how he has used his passion as a way to express himself over choosing substance abuse. We greatly appreciate your support which enables us to help change the lives of young adults like Al who so desperately need a strong support system to put him on the right path.

StandUp For Kids provides you with the opportunity to impact the lives of children in your community without having to dedicate any time from your busy schedule. The Monthly Giving Program allows you to choose the amount you wish to give, automatically receives it each month and immediately puts your donation to use to help youth in need.

Recurring donations are the best way to give steady support to StandUp For Kids and we greatly appreciate our donors for seeing the value in their monthly giving! With the help of our Monthly Giving Program, we were able to offer support and services to 53,929 youth in 2018 alone - as well as provide 29,501 meals, support 2,107 kids with first-time unduplicated services and deliver medical care to 186 children and reunite 31 kids with their families. None of this would be made possible if it weren’t for the kindness and steady support from our monthly donors.
