Eye on Earth Summit to Focus on Environmental Data and the Future of Sustainability
 OpenOceans Global is represented this week at the Eye on Earth Summit, an important international conference hosted by the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency to address the crucial importance of environmental and societal information and networking to decision-making.Keynote speakers throughout the four days of the Summit include former President Bill Clinton, H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahd (UAE Minister of Environment and Water), Dr. Jane Goodall, Sylvia Earle, Jack Dangermond of ESRI, and many other experts in the field of environmental data and data presentation. 
In addition to these notable speakers, the Eye on Earth summit brings together more than 1,000 leaders who have many interests in common with OpenOceans Global. They come together to ask how can we converge and collaborate to gather both the information and the data necessary to understanding the ocean's processes and other environmental areas. This collaborative approach recognizes that the ocean must be maintained in an environmentally sound way even as human societal and economic benefits are also maintained.

Our Goal
OpenOceans Global’s ultimate goal is to aggregate the world's ocean data and creatively present that data online using advanced visualization technologies. However, before we can accomplish that heady goal, we intend to create a cross-sector community of people and organizations who understand that we can't save the ocean or use it safely if we don't understand its processes. Those processes include the ocean's interaction with the atmosphere, climate change, watersheds, and the water cycle.
We believe that the need to understand the ocean is something we all have in common, no matter what our interests.
The new web portal has been constructed to provide value across ocean sectors by linking to accurate information about the ocean. The web site is the next step in the process to accomplish OpenOceans Global’s objectives.

Much more content will be added and a number of enhancements are on the drawing board, but the new web site is the framework from which we will begin the next steps in the evolution of OpenOceans Global.
