July 2019 Newsletter

Each Saturday morning at 8:30 am, our StandUp For Kids team conducts outreach alongside Mama Dee and her team at their Joyful Hands Breakfast Outreach event. During this time, we provide hygiene supplies, snacks, clothing, and resource hand-outs while engaging with our homeless community as they enjoy a hot breakfast.

On these mornings we often catch up with our youth, as many, stop by to check in with us on their progress and ask for items they might be in need of.

This is a great time to drop off donations and connect with us! As the hot summer days approach, we are especially in need of small tubes of sunscreen, water bottles, cleansing wipes, and band-aids. To see our full wishlist, click here

Look out for us in the parking lot on State and Franklin on Saturdays from 8:30-11am.

Meet Katie -

Katie began volunteering with StandUp For Kids in April of 2019 and has consistently exceeded any and all expectations since then through her loyalty, dedication, and passion.

"I love volunteering with StandUp For Kids because it's given me the opportunity to make genuine and impactful connections with a group of people who are too often ignored and forgotten. It's great to see our SUFK team grow, and I love getting out with them and making a difference in our community".

Katie devotes her off-duty time endlessly to the team, creating flyers, marketing materials, and writing excerpts to post on our website. She is a reliable volunteer with limitless amounts of creativity and excitement for our mission. Thank you Katie!

The Sharing Teens and Elders Project (STEP) is a multi-generational program with the mission of bridging generations through conversation. Teens and Elders come together each month to share stories, find similarities, and learn from one another.

For the past 8 months, STEP's wonderful women have been a huge help by assisting us in preparing and packing hygiene, survival, and snack bags each month to hand out to our homeless youth. Many of our kids rely on these bags just to take care of their most basic needs.

Thank you to Program Director, Linda Terry and all of the volunteers for collaborating with us, and for everything you do!

We have so many great things going on that wouldn’t be possible without our donors and volunteers. There are lots of ways you can get more involved, from volunteering as a mentor, asking your company to sponsor, donating items, or supporting us financially.
